Emergency Regulation on Water Consumption – Orange Phase

To preserve the essential drinking water reserves, the College of the Mayor and Aldermen has adopted, on the recommendation of the Syndicat des Eaux du Sud (SES), an emergency regulation that enters into force with immediate effect and remains applicable throughout the Orange Phase.

The following activities are prohibited:

• Washing vehicles, except at professional car wash facilities;
• Washing pavements, garages, courtyards and building façades;
• Filling private swimming pools, inflatable pools and private ponds;
• Renewing the water in private swimming pools;
• Using high-pressure cleaners;
• Operating fountains, except those using a closed water circuit;
• Cooling food or beverages under running water;
• Watering lawns, parks, cemeteries and sports grounds, except for newly planted areas.

These restrictions do not apply to businesses specialised in the above-mentioned activities.

Violations of this regulation are punishable by fines ranging from €25 to €250.
