Municipal services

The Accounting office is responsible for all collection procedures and carries out the payment of all municipal expenditures.

The Citizens and Communication Service is the central hub ensuring the transparent dissemination of information related to the municipality and its political life. It is committed to informing residents through targeted communication initiatives while organising events and activities designed to celebrate the diversity of our community.

The Financial Service’s main mission is to manage the financial operations of the municipal administration. It supports the Board of Aldermen in its daily tasks related to municipal finances.

The Housing Service is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive community by creating energy‑efficient and affordable housing for everyone. The team manages housing applications, ensures technical follow‑up, and responds to urgent situations.

The Human Resources Department manages and supports the development of the municipality’s staff.

The municipal officers / rural wardens of the commune monitor vehicle parking, enforce the municipal police regulations of Schifflange, inspect the commune’s forests and public barbecue areas, and oversee the terraces of cafés and restaurants.

The Municipal Secretariat manages the day‑to‑day administrative affairs and serves as the link between the College of the Mayor and Aldermen and the citizens.

The municipal workshop brings together more than 70 staff members, organised into ten specialised teams that carry out the work and maintenance of public infrastructure.

The New Works and Infrastructure Service is responsible for the municipality’s buildings and infrastructure. It also oversees public roads and traffic management, including all related areas such as signage, roadwork permits, and the reservation of public spaces.

The School Service is responsible for organising early education, preschool and fundamental education, extracurricular activities, as well as the Pédibus (walking‑bus system).

The Service for Municipal Archives, Information Technologies and Digitalisation was created in June 2025 and is the result of the merger between the Municipal Archives Service and the IT Service, which had historically been attached to the Technical Service.

The Sports Service aims to integrate physical activity into the daily lives of all citizens by promoting accessibility, diversity and participation. With a dedicated coordinator, this service builds bridges between local stakeholders to jointly develop a municipal sports activity plan tailored to the real needs of the Commune of Schifflange.

The swimming pool, completely renovated in 2020, offers an exceptional environment for everyone who enjoys swimming. A 25 × 12.5 m pool, a paddling pool, and a wellness area with Finnish sauna, hamam, salisarium and solarium are available. In summer, a lawn and a beach‑volleyball court are also accessible. The facility is likewise used by local schools.

The Ecological Service, created in 1997, has continuously evolved by taking on new responsibilities. Since 2015, it has been replaced by the Urban Planning and Sustainable Development Service – SUDD.
