Op Schrëtt op Trëtt duerch verschidde Biotopen zu Schëffleng

Step by step through the biotopes of Schifflange
Together with the Nature Administration and SICONA, the Municipality of Schifflange visited the new Motzdräisch pond as well as the ponds created six years ago near Jetzig. This visit made it possible to observe how these wetland areas have evolved over time. At Motzdräisch, a 7.6 are pond was excavated last year, and a natural stone crossing was built to maintain access to the parcels.

Many amphibians have since found new, well-connected habitats. The great crested newt, a protected species, has been recorded in this Natura 2000 area of the upper Alzette valley. The ecological restoration and clearing work along the Alzette, carried out by the Nature Administration to promote species rich extensive grasslands and meadow birds, was also presented during the visit.

The work of SICONA is carried out with the support of the municipalities, landowners and farmers, the Nature Administration, the Water Management Administration and the Ministry of the Environment.
