Opgepasst am Bësch: Méi héije Risiko duerch Dréchent an Hëtzt

Caution in forests: Increased risks during periods of drought and heat

Prolonged periods of heat and drought, intensified by the effects of climate change, weaken our forests and trees. In addition to the increased risk of forest fires, they also raise the danger of falling branches or tree failures. Even trees that appear healthy from the outside may have hidden structural damage.

The Nature and Forest Agency and the Municipality of Schifflange encourage residents to exercise particular caution when walking or carrying out activities in forest areas.

The following safety recommendations should be observed:

  • Prevent wildfire risks by avoiding any kind of open fire during periods of drought;
  • Remain vigilant during walks and activities in forests, especially after storms or prolonged dry spells;
  • Choose open areas away from trees for activities in forested environments whenever possible;
  • Stay on marked paths and trails.

Thank you for your vigilance and cooperation.
