Visite officielle du futur quartier Metzeschmelz

On 29 April, Prime Minister Luc Frieden and the Minister for Housing and Spatial Planning Claude Meisch paid an official visit to the Metzeschmelz site, accompanied by Christian Weis, Mayor of Esch-sur-Alzette, Carlo Feiereisen, Mayor of Schifflange, and representatives of AGORA. During the visit, AGORA presented the current progress of this major national redevelopment project, which aims to transform a 63-hectare former industrial and steelmaking site into a modern and sustainable urban district.

In the long term, the project foresees around 4,360 housing units for 8,000 to 10,000 residents, nearly 7,900 jobs and more than 800,000 m² of built surface area, with 30% dedicated to affordable housing. The first residents are expected to move in around 2031, in a district designed to combine industrial heritage, quality of life and sustainable mobility.
